A little birdy told us about the amazing pancakes at this local eatery at Woolloongabba in Brisbane’s south. A ‘Locavore’ we were told is a person who seeks out food that is grown, raised, or produced locally; and this is exactly what owner Nathan Olson does when providing customers with quality, delicious food.
The cafe has been open for over a year and has an all-day breakfast menu which excited us the most! Hailing from Melbourne, we are all about our late brunches, who says you can't have pancakes at lunchtime?
Having a sneak peak at some other diner’s food as we entered though, we didn’t even make it to the pancakes! I decided to test out how they did with the basics and chose a custom creation; fried eggs with avocado and mushrooms. Yolks runny, mushrooms plump and flavoursome and the avocado was ripe and delicious with their sourdough bread. Local ingredients were indeed shining. We also tried their pulled pork take on ‘eggs benedict’ and were again pleasantly surprised! By far though, the creator of all food envy was their middle-eastern inspired dish that consisted of flat bread, dutch carrots, poached eggs, hummus and pomegranate.
Everything served was quality and you could taste how fresh the produce really was. We have to add also that their chips were next level (and Zana knows her chips!). Freshly baked muffins looked amazing in the cabinet and we didn’t even get to try those pancakes! We will have to get back there soon to sample some more as their menu is seasonal. Keen to see what’s on offer for lunch!
