Bill & Coo: Mykonos

Bill & Coo: Mykonos

With only two magical days in Mykonos we had to jam pack our itinerary (and our stomachs) with the best dining experiences. The beautiful 'Bill and Coo Hotel and Suites' has graced Mykonos Island for 10 years and is a member of the Luxury Hotels of The World group. Our quad-bike struggled but just managed to navigate the private winding road to reach the top of the mountain where their restaurant sits beside their picturesque infinity pool and cabanas.

A fully stocked bar with signature cocktails and all of the classics caught our eye (no need for the wine list although I am sure it is wonderful too!). We ordered some steamed mussels and caprese salad to start; chicken skewers from the grill with thick hand-cut chips and the fish of the day; Sea-Bream with sautéed broccoli and kale. From the moment the food hit the table we realised that these Greek chefs have a secret advantage... with liquid gold extra virgin olive oil like this there is no way you can go wrong. In fact all of the produce was absolutely top quality; buffalo mozzarella imported from Campagna in Italy (where Gianni's lineage is from - so he is a self acclaimed expert), the juiciest red cherry tomatoes you can ask for and crispy-skinned fresh fish from the mornings market. The mussels in a creamy sauce with tarragon was not in the usual sauce that we expected but was exquisite and was duly mopped up with the crusty toasted bread provided. There is no guessing that chef Costa also can cook the perfect chicken souvlaki skewer with his eyes closed. In fact, lucky for Australians, Costa is heading for Melbourne in a few months (to meet up with the other half of Greece haha) and will be cooking in a restaurant a little closer to our homes! He may be disappointed by our olive oil...

This restaurant is an absolute must for any travellers to Mykonos. Along with the Kivotos Hotel, you won't need a camera to remember the food and views of these stunning establishments for the rest of your life. Until then, you have our photos! Let's hope our quad bike brakes are new and ready to handle our extra 20kgs on the way back down...
