Falls Creek 2018

Falls Creek 2018

With this little baby in my belly ready to pop out at any time it is becoming increasingly difficult to find a quick getaway holiday destination; something local enough to be within safe hospital distance but far enough to escape the daily grind of the inner city.

Wineries are always a nice day-trip escape but I wanted a little more; and when Gianni suggested a getaway over the long Queens Birthday weekend to the snow, I was instantly sold! In fact it was such a good idea that before I knew it I had my parents, my brothers and my friends all keen to join us and I was searching for accomodation that could sleep 8 people!

We had skied and snowboarded at Mt Buller and Falls Creek before and both were amazing. It’s easy to forget that something so beautiful (its even called Mount Beauty) is really on our doorstep! Either one would be a good choice but being the very first weekend of the official snow season it was always going to be a gamble on whether we would arrive to a blanketed white winter wonderland or lush gorgeous greenery with dustings of snow.

My accomodation search was surprisingly short and sweet, finding a place big enough to comfortably accomodate all of us certainly narrowed the results but I was fortunate to stumble upon the huge and well-equipped Crows Nest apart-home. 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, sleeping up to 12 with two lounge rooms, gas fireplace, a full kitchen with outdoor bbq and hot tub. The perfect getaway for a large group or a family getaway.

There was no snowfall yet so we were able to drive up past the overnight parking directly to the front door of our accomodation which was proudly perched on Parallel Street, one of the highest points of the village. In full season with blankets of snow the resort is ski-in-ski-out and this house would be the perfect position. Without the snowfall though it was just as perfect with 180degree views from the main living room out over the village down to the valley and the snow capped mountain tops.

A perfect way to spend a weekend away with fresh air and picturesque views. Thank you to Crows Nest for such a beautiful home! We will be back next year!!
