By the tender age of 24 she was a beautiful bride, a lawyer and national television personality; but she has been a lover of food and fashion since the day she was born.
Zana Pali was born in the cultural melting pot of Melbourne, Australia, to parents who hailed from Montenegro/Albania in the Balkans of South-Eastern Europe. She spent much of her childhood with her maternal grandmother ‘Nondaja’ who along with her family instilled in her a great love for her European heritage, a respect for the diversity of cultures in Australia and the strength to follow whatever her heart desired in life. The most renowned lessons from Nondaja though, were of the culinary kind! Watching her Nondaja and her mother make traditional, ‘peasant’ dishes from their old village, Zana’s passion and love for food began at a very young age.
So too did her hard work ethic, working as many jobs as possible since the age of 14, Zana saved every spare penny to reward herself with her other love in life; Fashion! She quickly learnt that quality was much better than quantity and she developed a very expensive taste longing for the luxury brands of Louis Vuitton, Prada, Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel but made no apologies. Striving for the very best became second nature, and she never looked back.
Zana completed her Masters of Law Degree and Bachelor Arts from Monash University in Melbourne in 2014 and was admitted to the legal profession in 2015. Working with various different barristers during her studies she gained experience beyond her years and has now honed her skills in the areas of family and criminal law where she currently practices.
In 2012 though she unexpectedly met the love of her life, Gianni Romano. A young lawyer himself of Italian heritage (with boyish good looks and a similar love for food), he seemed like the perfect fit! They married in November 2014 at Hayman Island in the Whitsundays on the Great Barrier Reef and have lived happily ever after culminating in their recent starring appearance together on Season 7 of Channel 7’s ‘My Kitchen Rules’.
Honesty, Integrity and Loyalty are the three self-professed values that Zana lives by and they all became immediately evident during her time on television. She was quickly known for her confident, out-spoken nature, and (sometimes too honest) facial expressions which were polarising but were welcomed and respected by the Judges and contestants alike. It was a combination of all of the above that made her reach the semi-finals of the cooking show; her Nondaja’s cooking lessons, her hard work and determination, and of course, her quiet-but-amazing husband (and not necessarily in that order).
What’s next for this wonder woman? Some children I hope! But for now this website is her baby, with fashion and food blogs and an exciting online store to open soon.
(The lucky guy that married her!)
